Driver CJ McLaughlin (No. 09 SciAps Padnos Our Motorsports Chevy) started out last week by loading up a show car and heading cross country from North Carolina to their final destination: the Los Angeles Convention Center. McLaughlin traveled alongside his father, Charlie, who is a commercial truck driver.
The show car is going to be on display at the SciAps booth (#501) for the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries Convention and Expo taking place April 8-11. The ISRI Convention and Expo is the largest expo for scrap recycling with more than 300 product and service providers and 5,000 attendees from more than 50 countries.
SciAps is a major player in the scrap recycling industry and the main sponsor for McLaughlin who made his debut in the ARCA Menards Series in 2018 at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indiana. SciAps is a Boston based instrumentation company that specializes in portable analytical instruments and is run by CEO and co-founder Don Sackett. SciAps manufactures positive material identification analyzers that identify compounds, minerals, and elements using different forms of technology (XRF, LIBS, & RAMAN).
XRF, X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy, and LIBS, laser induced breakdown spectroscopy, both identify elemental concentrations in metals and their alloys. RAMAN technology does the same thing for solids, powders, liquids, gels, slurries, gases, organic and inorganic biological materials, and metallic oxides and corrosion.
With these technologies, SciAps is able to assist scrap recycling companies in better sorting materials, providing a more accurate and quality estimate for their customers. One of SciAps’ customers, Padnos, has been brought on board for McLaughlin’s next race in Talladega through their scrap metal business relationship.
Padnos is a Michigan based, family owned and operated company with extensive capabilities in recycling metals, plastics, paper, and electronics.
